Décor & Inspiration
As the colder months set in and the COVID-19 lockdowns continue, many of us are spending a lot more time at home.
During this time, why not spice up your home with some colours and accessories set to keep your home winter friendly over the coming months. Here are some ideas:
1. Layer up
What’s better than cosying up on your couch with a good book or Netflix series to binge watch? The simplest way to add even more comfort to your living and bedroom areas is to layer up with throws and blankets.
Apart from keeping you warm, adding a throw or blanket that matches the colour scheme of your home can really tie a room together.
For example, if your bedroom features blue accents, add a deep blue throw for a pop of colour at the end of your bed. Or, if your colour scheme is monochromatic, consider a grey blanket to drape over your living room couch.
2. Warm tones
When it comes to getting ready for winter, deep warm tones help to communicate comfort. Adding some deep greens, browns and maroons can create a soothing and relaxing ambience.
Dulux recommends incorporating colours like Purple Palace, Rosseau Green and Priory in your home this year to bring a sense of harmony and nature into your home. And thanks to our partnership with Dulux, every Arden Home features a Dulux three coat paint system to all internal walls and two coats to ceiling as a standard inclusion.
3. Indoor plants
With home isolation comes less time spent outdoors. And with winter setting, the weather may not allow for outdoor enjoyment. A great way to bring the outside in, is by populating your home with indoor plants!
A perfect addition to any room, an indoor plant can be especially comforting during this period of self-isolation. Discover the best, low maintenance indoor plants in our blog.
4. Hydronic heating
Don’t get cold feet! At Arden, we offer hydronic floor heating as an optional upgrade to our homes.
We use DPP Hydronic Heating to install the slab heating system which turns your entire floor into a radiant heater – perfect for these colder months!

5. Sun courts
Now that daylight savings is over, the nights are becoming darker earlier, and as a result, your home may feel a bit darker too. Every Arden homes features sun courts as a standard inclusion to ensure interiors are flooded with natural light during daylight hours.
We consider the size, orientation and aspect of your block, and position your sun-court to allow for maximised sunlight and air-flow throughout your home, filling your home with light even in the winter months.
