The Top Five Benefits of Cooking with Induction Cooktops

04-10-2023

We were recently lucky enough to have one of Australia’s favourite cooks, Poh Ling Yeow, in Arden’s all electric kitchen as she cooked up a delicious meal on our Fisher & Paykel induction cooktop.

As part of our commitment to sustainable living, every Arden home is all-electric, 100% carbon neutral and solar powered at no extra cost. This forms part of our elevated inclusions – so that we can truly make sustainable living accessible to everyone.

Induction —which relies on magnetic properties to heat instead of a live flame or hot coil — has lots of advantages over gas or radiant-electric heat. Today, we’re going to look at the top five reasons we love induction cooktops.

A quicker cook time.

After a long day of caring for your family and work needs, the last thing you want is to spend unnecessary time in the kitchen. Induction cooktops are noticeably quicker thanks to their unrivalled accuracy and immediacy of heat at both high and low temperatures. Some studies have shown that an induction cooktop can boil water 20-40% faster compared to gas and traditional electric cooktops.

A quicker clean time.

Thanks to the smooth glass-ceramic surface of the cooktops they are a breeze to clean. A quick wipe down of the cooktop at the end of the night will keep your kitchen looking sparkling new, due to the fact that an induction cooktop only heats up underneath the pan.

Safety.

Induction cooktops don’t involve any direct heat or flames which eliminates so many safety issues. Only your pots and pans heat though the cooking process, while your cooktop remains at room temperature which means that no little hands run the risk of burns post the cooking experience.

According to Asthma Australia there’s conclusive evidence that gas cooktops contribute significantly to poor respiratory health. Most concerning of all is the effect on children. “Gas cooktops contribute 12% of the childhood asthma burden, which is equivalent to tobacco smoke in the home,” says Asthma Australia CEO Michele Goldman. There is also no chance of the gas being left on or polluting the homes air whilst cooking.

Sustainability.

As well as saving you time cooking, cleaning and the major health and safety benefits, induction cooktops are also a more sustainable way to cook. In fact, induction cooktops can be up to 85% more energy-efficient than gas and 50% more energy-efficient than electric. So, if you’re looking for an energy-efficient cooking option, induction is the way to go. Not only will you save energy, but you’ll also save money on your energy bills. On top of this, our all-electric homes are also carbon neutral and produce the same amount of renewable energy that they use. By choosing a home that is carbon neutral, you are saving on average 5 tonnes^ of greenhouse gas emissions each year.

No more gas connection in new homes

We’ve always invested in sustainability, creating new ways to help you live better and inspire a future we all deserve. As Victoria moves to ban gas connections to new homes from January 2024, there’s never been a better time to consider stepping up to an Arden home, Victoria’s only volume builder to promise all-electric, 100% carbon neutral homes – at no extra cost.

Not only do we offer induction cooktops in every Arden home, but we also include:

  • Energy saving solar panels

  • All-electric cooking appliances

  • Ducted reverse-cycle heating and cooling

  • Integrated heat pump hot water service

  • Double glazing to windows

  • LED downlights

  • Three phase power
