Styling our newest display homes – Smith’s Lane

15-10-2021

One of our favourite blog series of 2021 has been taking you into our display homes in Clyde, Mount Duneed and Truganina and sharing our tips for styling your own home.

We’ve just put the finishing touches on our newest display homes at Smiths Lane Estate in Clyde North, and wanted to give you some insider tips on how to recreate the styles of the stunning Verona 34 and Bellini 29 MK2.

Verona 34

Style: Relaxed Contemporary

Creating a home that’s warm and welcoming, the Relaxed Contemporary style embraces soft furnishings paired with modern finishes in its styling. Using texture and colour to create dynamics in the interiors, this style is all about casual comfort.

Tips to recreate this look:

  • Opt for a light and bright palette for your walls and cabinetry in open plan areas. This will help amplify the feeling of space, pairing well with timber flooring
  • For your window coverings, choose a linen sheer in a neutral tone. This allows plenty of sunlight to filter through while softening the lighting in the room
  • Play with cozy textures to create a relaxed living space, like boucle fabric and chunky loop pile carpet
  • Texture can also be created through the patterns in your tiling. A finger-mosaic tile like the one we used in this kitchen adds a new dynamic to the space without veering from the neutral palette
  • Introduce colours in a muted palette, like greens, pinks and terracottas. These add warmth without overpowering the space
  • For a stunning home theatre (or a feature wall), create depth in the palette with deep jewel tones. In this display, we painted the theatre in a muted dark green to set the mood for movie night while still feeling cohesive with the rest of the home

Bellini 29 MK2

Style: Moody Monochrome

Taking cues from the popular industrial style, Moody Monochrome is all about dark colours and rich textures for a modern take on timeless interiors. Minimalist in styling, this look opts for luxe materials and contrasting colours for less-is-more impact.

Tips to recreate this look:

  • Don’t be afraid to go to the dark side for your hard finishes! Dark materials and joinery paired with white walls create the timeless neutral base for this style to shine.
  • Sticking to charcoal and dark grey shades for your styling means black can be used for high design impact. The black splashback tiles and woodgrain cabinetry in the kitchen become features against the white Caesarstone benchtop and light wall colour.
  • Even the small touches can make a big difference. Something as simple as using a dark grout instead of white or grey for the splashback tiles completely transforms the look and feel of the kitchen in this home.
  • Opting for matte finishes can add to the luxe factor of this style. A natural stone-look tile in a darker charcoal shade complements the wood tones of the joinery here
  • Let your personality shine through with contemporary artwork. Introducing colour and pattern to the space, choosing bold and bright pieces will balance the monochromatic palette
  • Contrast your hard finishes with soft furnishings, opting for textures like black woodgrains, tan leather, forest green velvet and chunky wool boucles
